Why Clean Air Matters
Season 14 Episode 4 | 28m 14sVideo has Closed Captions
This episode will demonstrate why clean air impacts our health.
With growing populations and fossil-fuel-fired power plants built after World War II, the visibility in NC’s mountains and across much of the state was greatly diminished in the 1950s through the early 1970s. Particulates in the air caused measurable health problems for the young and old. We demonstrate why “costs” should be measured not just by visibility, but by lives saved and improved.
