"Missing Middle" tries to help with housing supply shortage

The goal of missing middle housing is to improve a community’s housing options.

The City of Raleigh has joined other municipalities in implementing the “Missing Middle” model. The goal is to offset housing supply issues and improve the city’s housing options. Missing middle is a term that refers to housing that falls between single family homes and apartments, such as duplexes and townhomes.
