We are The Lorena Guillen Tango Ensemble and we are delighted to be here in the North Carolina Museum of Art tonight playing for all of you.

We are all like shooting stars in the dark sky of the night.

Why are we all alone in this immense solitude?

[band instrumental music] - I came to this country many years ago, but my story is only one of the many ways of arriving.

[band instrumental music] ♪ We walked, we walked ♪ Through the desert three days ♪ ♪ My mom brought me a 12 ♪ And my brother only nine ♪ My parents brought me here ♪ I was 10 years old ♪ They had a vision for their children ♪ ♪ I said roles ♪ I said roles [band instrumental music] ♪ Many ways of arriving ♪ It's different for us all [Lorena singing in foreign language] ♪ My brother in law ♪ Got me an interview ♪ Got the job got the papers ♪ Many ways of arriving ♪ It is different for us all [acoustic guitar music] ♪ Living at the hall and the children ♪ ♪ I trust us to grow ♪ Again, again ♪ My man paid the six years ♪ Of English lessons for me ♪ When I arrived not one word ♪ Not a word I've understand ♪ My mother moved here ♪ She got married at home ♪ And at the youngest I have arrived ♪ ♪ To come first ♪ To come first ♪ Many ways of arriving ♪ Is different for us all ♪ No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no ♪ ♪ No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no ♪ - Let me introduce these wonderful musicians, Jacqui Carrasco, Adam Ricci, Alejandro Rutty, Erik Schmidt, Guy Capuzzo myself, Lorena Guillen.

Music is like a window into the world that we live in.

And our music is typically the scope.

We fuse sounds of tango with sounds of other traditions around the world and our voices and sounds are carried by the wind.
